Long (110 words). D4N Games is an independent game studio based in Erbil, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and a subsidiary of D4N. Since 2019 the studio has shipped 16 titles spanning atmospheric horror, first-person puzzle games, platformers and multiplayer arcade experiences, collectively played by over 2.25 million people. Recent releases include But Why?, a comedy climbing game narrated by a nihilist; Rakoon, a 12-player co-operative looting game; and The Tablet of Destinies, an archaeology adventure set in the Erbil Citadel and the ruins of Hatra, playable in Arabic, Kurdish and English. The studio took first place at the Iraq Game Jam 2025 with Static Train.
D4N Games started in 2019 with short horror games — September 2000, a five-and-a-half-minute found footage piece, and The Phantasmagoria, a game about closing a garage door that goes wrong. The studio kept the same instinct as it grew: make the idea small enough to finish, and make the first thirty seconds count.
By 2022 that had become co-operative horror with Panoramic Hallucination and Release Me, then first-person puzzle design with Network Blackout and Static Train — the latter built in three days and taking first place at the Iraq Game Jam 2025.
2026 has been the studio's widest year: SCREWED and But Why? pushed it into comedy and physics platforming, The Tablet of Destinies into Mesopotamian adventure with full Arabic and Kurdish localisation, and Rakoon into 12-player multiplayer. Alongside the games, the team produces 3D environment art in Blender for its own titles and for commissioned client work.
Static Train, built in three days on the theme "empty but not alone".
Before Morning, a top-down survival horror built in 48 hours.
